Sports

Most of my sports shooting experiences have been on the high school level, in my mind, the best level to shoot for the pure joy of sport. Every year as the seasons start, I am challenged again to try to reach a new level. My progress has been slow in this area of photography. I gave up on autofocus and have gone back to manual focus because, slow as I am, I seem to do better when I control the focus. I am in awe of some of the images captured by photographers at The Kansas City Star and, on occasion, when I see a Sports Illustrated. They remind me of what can be done. I do enjoy shooting rodeos, horse and mule shows, and bullriding events. My ultimate sport photo is still out there. I imagine I will be stalking it for years to come.
